KSh 600

This exciting anthology of short stories showcases the work of 13 emerging writers from the African continent, finalists in the Center for African Cultural Excellence’s Writivism Short Story Competition 2015. Now in its third year, this increasingly popular annual competition attracted over 250 entries from countries as far afield as Botswana, Tanzania, Nigeria and Rwanda, to name but a few. The best of the stories were selected by a panel of judges chaired by Chika Unigwe, and including Mukoma Wa Ngugi, Rachel Zadok, Tendai Huchu and Ainehi Edoro. The anthology is edited by Sumayya Lee and Emmanuel Sigauke. Dip in for a feast of fiction which encompasses realism, science fiction, and even a horror story, in a collection which is guaranteed to impress and entertain.

The Centre for African Cultural Excellence (CACE) focuses on young people using the arts and other cultural aspects like language to express and engage in discourse in Africa. Among the CACE projects is Writivism, it’s flagship project, which targets young writers and readers, and has been running since October 2012. CACE will be running a Writivism Festival in August 2013, and would love to attract as many participants as possible. This is a wonderful opportunity, so please, if you’re interested, get in touch with CACE via their project site. Roses for Betty & Other Stories is the Writivism anthology for 2015. Other Writivism Anthologies include: The Writivism Anthology 2013, Fire in the Night & Other Stories; The Writivism Anthology 2014.
