“Celestina!” Madam would call “You see the stress you put me through. I am supposed to be resting, but no! I have to keep an eye on you lest you steal any of my food items.” Celestina always chocked on laughter anytime Madam said so, and so would feign coughs. Sometimes, Madam would scream, jumping out of her chair to give her a slap on her back “Do you know how much I bought those food items? Do you know how much goes into healthcare in this family? You want to infect us? Anyway I don’t blame you. You don’t appreciate good life. How would you? You poor thing!”

(book excerpt)

“Sometimes, one hardly sees the world for what it is except through the eyes of another. Death, bondage, sexual indulgences, and a lifetime scar were the depleting experiences life afforded poor Ajoke. And so we enter into the scene of her eventful life’s journey on the wheels of great struggles against duty, and more daringly against time, hanging on the wall, as it were, butterfly shaped, threatening to fly away.”
